Everyday mugs
A generous 300 ml, comfortable handle, oatmeal or sea-green glaze.
A small pottery studio on the edge of town. We throw, glaze and fire everything by hand in little batches — mugs you reach for first, bowls that live on the table, pots that take the knocks.
Thrown in local stoneware and glazed in a short, calm palette. Each piece is a little different — that’s rather the point.
A generous 300 ml, comfortable handle, oatmeal or sea-green glaze.
Sold singly or as a set of four. Stacks neatly, dishwasher-happy.
Big enough for a salad for the whole table; a satin matte inside.
A short, round vase for a single stem on the windowsill.
Small groups — never more than six at the wheel — so there’s plenty of hands-on time. Clay, tools, glazing and firing are all included; take your pieces home a few weeks later.
One relaxed session at the wheel — throw a couple of small bowls and leave them with us to glaze and fire.
From centring to trimming and your first glaze. By the end you’ll have a small set you’ve made start to finish.
Birthdays, hen dos, team days or a one-to-one. Tell us the date and how many, and we’ll set it up.
Fernbank began in 2016 as a corner of a shared workshop and a single secondhand wheel. These days it’s a small studio in a converted dairy just off the Warminster road, run by Hannah and a rotating cast of resident makers.
We work mostly in a warm local stoneware, fired to 1260°C so it’s tough enough for daily life. Nothing here is trying to be perfect — we like the quiet marks of the hand that made it.
“A good mug disappears into your morning. That’s the whole job.”
The shelves are open to the public at the end of each week — come and handle the pieces, see what’s fresh out of the kiln, and say hello.
